National Night Out 2009
"Special Materials"
Youth Art Show

Each year the Concord Park Neighborhood Association helps to
sponsor National Night Out activities. The event this year will be held
on Tuesday, August 4th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Cross Way,
the connecting street between Todd and Lynn Avenues.
As a "special event", we are inviting all youths 14 years of age and
under who live in this neighborhood to express what this year's
National Night Out means to them. To do this, we are asking them to
submit a picture showing what this celebration means. The picture
can be a drawing, painting, collage or photograph.
This year's theme is Neighborhood Preparedness, Phase 2, so
your art might reflect what you observe on the property that is
your yard! This is called mapping, and can be used by the
neighborhood CERT Team for search and rescue.
The finished size of all entries must be 8-1/2" X 11" or 9" X 12". All
pictures will be displayed at the National Night Out celebration. The
first ten (10) entrants who beat the deadline will receive a prize.
In order to be eligible for the prize, pictures must be received by Pat
Taylor at 2543 Lynn Avenue by Friday, July 31st at 7:00 p.m. No
exceptions. Even if you don't win a prize, your entry will be displayed
at the National Night Out event. So, young people, make your picture,
be sure and put your name, address, phone #, age and parent's
name on the back, and submit it by the deadline.
What do you think about when you think of Neighborhood Mapping?
Is your yard shaped like a big square? How many trees, and where?
Where are the shutoffs for gas, water and electricity? A family
member can help you. And National Night Out is when we all give a
"going away" party for crime and drugs! Draw that, if you like.
