- Detroit Avenue Complete Streets Project
The adopted 2014-2015 Fiscal Year Transportation Improvement Program includes Project
No 2276 (Detroit Avenue Pedestrian & Bicycle Improvements).
The City of
Concord had applied for a
OneBayArea
Grant that would install a traffic signal at the Lynn
Ave & Detroit Ave intersection. The
Contra
Costa Transportation Authority has approved this $2.2
million dollar project. On July 13, 2013, the community
along with Mayor Helix and Supervisor Mitchoff celebrated
with a ribbon cutting. Read the
Contra
Costa Times article.
- Walkability
Audit of Detroit Ave
On
the 18th of August 2012, 30-45 residents of the Monument
Community - including members of the Central County First
Five Regional Advocacy Group and representatives of the
Monument Community Partnership - worked with Contra Costa
County Health Services and the National Environmental
Protection Agency to do a "walk audit" of
Detroit Ave to identify issues that make it unsafe to
walk or bike. Participants walked from Clayton Rd to
Monument Blvd, recording areas of concern.
